Environmental Health Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

An environmental health specialist is someone who is licensed to inspect environmental health systems  to make sure everything is compliant with federal regulations. This all varies in the state, as the regulations are set by the  government to keep citizens safe and in good health. As they are to usually inspect:
  • Food facilities
  • Apartments
  • Hotels/motels
  • Private premises
  • Boarding homes
  • Theaters
  • Stores
  • Boats
  • Swimming Pools
  • Spas-Massage Parlors
  • Body art facilities

Salary: $53,372-$65,540(Annually)

Education:

One must obtain their Bachelor’s degree, this would be in occupational safety and scientific discipline. After obtaining your Bachelor’s Degree you would also have to gain experience  with at least 1-3 years of experience. Certification is also required by law in every state, this gives the CSP title usually received at least in a minimum of 3 years of work.

Demand or Need for this profession:

It is seen that the occupation is set to grow by 11%, this is to occur from 2014 to 2024.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would not like to be one, i do not see this career as interesting as others. I have also chosen my future career that I would really love. There is a purpose for each career, and those who are best suited for it have patience and I’m sure very intelligent. I also lack in the scientific fields, it was always a struggle for me to comprehend.
