“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.” -Dean Smith

Dean Smith appears to be a man of humility, as he does not like when one credits him. As he did not plan to leave a legacy, but he only did what was best. He chose the right in coaching the players to do what is best. Smith’s quote shows that fame and legacy is not greater than choosing the right. He did what was right, as he taught his players. This can be an example of choosing the right, as Dean Smith lived his life. This applies to many in their professions, as many can notice that your decisions matter more than fame. So it's best to choose the right.

Karma will take care of itself
“It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life the RIGHT WAY, the karma(good results, destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.”  -    Dr.Randy Pausch

Dr. Pausch speaks of good words as he is right. Everything that you achieve and everything that you do is what brings “karma”. I prefer the term “Golden Rule”, as it seems to make more sense to me. With all your good actions and deeds, the “karma” would take care of itself. As a person cannot control their good fortune through anything else but their actions. So it is best to achieve and be a really good person with character. It will help you not worry of the things to come, because you will already know that it's going to be good things.

“Make Your Passion Your Profession”

Battery/Drumline Instructor
received_1167194206680461.jpeg     As an after-school activity I joined my school marching band. I am a member of the school drumline and percussion. I have already played two drums of the three. The drum that I first played was the bass drum. My second year I had transferred over to the quad toms/tenor drums. This coming year I am trying out for section leader, as being one of the only three past members. I love playing percussion, the drum may get heavy once or twice but I love it. I learned really fast for my first year, and I’m starting to teach the new recruits. I would love to teach professional percussion, it seems very interesting and I feel I would enjoy being around something I used to be a part of.
received_1157458504320698.jpegI can make this passion my profession by using the things I have learned in my four years in my high school drumline. I may also learn in the next years further in college. There are marching bands for some colleges, and I feel that I would a have the patience for this, maybe to eventually play with some students. Although I may also join drum corp international, but there is an age limit to be a part of this group. The ages allowed in Drum Corp International would be of ages 21 and younger.  Being that every time I play I learn something new and get better.
There are no education requirements that are known. Although it is best to have experience and have knowledge on all parts of percussion. As to know how to play and read the music for each drum, along with marking time(marching) while playing.
I would do most things for my passions. But this may be a secondary career, as it depends to what extent the instructor is needed. I love drumline, it is something I will never forget, as it was a nice opportunity to have. I’d be glad to give someone else a chance to have the awesome experience I had.

Body-Mind-Spirit
“Take responsibility for YOUR OWN body, mind, and spirit, for your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.”     -MR. C. S. Haymore
As much as some people would want to blame someone else for a mistake. We are at fault, it was our own actions. With you and yourself, no one can ever fully control you. Your parents may tell you what to do, and YES you MUST obey and respect them. That is your responsibility as their child. But whatever you do after that, it is you and your OWN actions. It's best to be responsible for good things, because it's better for everyone. If you had to be responsible over an incident, you show that you are truthful if you were to admit to it. Spiritually, you must always know if you are okay. If you are a happy and very good person in character, it shows that spiritually and mentally that you are okay!

   Intelligence Plus Character
“Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.”    -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

File:Martin Luther King Jr ... One can actually show what they have been taught through their actions. While also showing their knowledge of certain things. For example, you can show how you learned from your mistakes. It may seem below the individual, but if that person knows that he or she has gotten better. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote shows that you can be intelligent, or even just a good person with character. But when it comes to being both, you can and will be a better person. As a CTR person has good character, but also has great intelligence.
