“We learn to do by doing.”
                                                 -Spencer W. Kimball

As the only way we can learn is by trying something, Spencer Kimball’s quote gave me the interpretation of that. No one can fully know or be sure of  how they feel unless they try it. If you would like to learn how to do something, then you must TRY to do it. Once you started then it becomes a memory and you will always know how to do that. Like I wanted to learn how to play the ukulele, and truthfully I won't be able to learn unless I actually play with or even practice. I finally got one this March, and I would practice and play with the instrument. I learned  how to play this instrument within a week, and that makes me proud. This shows me how one can’t just make what they want possible, they have to try it and do it! We can learn to be good by doing, to be a better person as well. You can always learn by doing, it’s natural in our lives. We will always learn, and it's a great thing to remember with this quote.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are well known as paramedics. They are to care for the and/or injured in any emergency. These emergencies would mostly be in any medical setting as many lives depend on this fast or quick action to assist. EMTs are to respond to any emergency calls, perform medical services needed, as well as to transfer their patient to any medical facility when needed. Most EMTs are often seen beside police and firefighters in any emergency.
Salary: $31,980(median annual wage-2015)
Education:
To become an Emergency Medical Technician one must take postsecondary education programs. A license is required in all states although many other requirements may vary depending on the state of practice. Usually a high school diploma and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) certification is required to be an EMT. Other programs would be needed as well, to complete these programs it can take from 1 to 2 years.
Demand or Need for this Profession:
The employment rate and occupation of this profession is seen to grow by 24%. This is said to occur in the years 2014-2024, as many emergencies have occurred in these years. This will create a higher demand for EMTs and paramedics with their services.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I think I wouldn’t like to be one, as I fear the worst in things. I cannot see a person dying with my own eyes, or even to be in an accident. Many movies have affected and made me make this decision, and it would terrify me to know that I could’ve helped someone but was too late. So I feel its best mentally and emotionally not to have a career where i may feel guilt and sadness. I still respect those who work in this profession, as I see them as strong people who help those in need.

“Obedience is the central to becoming, being, and remaining happy”
                                        -David Bednar
Obedience has been a key subject when it comes to being truly happy. But not only being obedient can or will help you be successful. Being obedient can and will make you happy, because you know what NOT to do. As you’re being obedient, you learn what is not right so you don't do it. David Bednar gave a quote that only says the outcome. To be happy and to stay happy, all you need in your life is obedience. It may seem and sound easy, but it really isn’t. One must try to have obedience in his/ or her life, but you can't help but make mistakes. I know I have made mistakes and I’m going off topic. But still, all you need to do is to TRY to be obedient. This will help you be and stay happy.

Although, not many schools may offer musical arts, most schools in LAUSD offer these student services.

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do."

                                       - Alex Linares

When you make decisions, its best to always or even try to make the right ones. This quote states it and puts it out there. Of course when you do something wrong it wouldn't be right. Yes some people might say "two wrongs make a right",  but that is just completely off. It wont make a difference, if you've done something wrong then you know already. So its best to choose the right. This would and will allow you to be on the right path. I always try my best but I'm not perfect at all. So I cant always do the right, but like me you can try.  This student's quote was straight forward and into the point. It cant be hard to get it, to do the right thing.  So simple yet so hard to do,  everyone should try to choose the right.

" What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as  basketball player."

- John Wooden

I honestly cannot relate to this quote, although I comprehend the meaning of it. I  can see how one can be so good at one thing but really bad as a person. This quote is also a way for us to comprehend and know how we are truly. As you are or can be a great athlete. But would that really matter more than your personality? No, it wouldn't, because people wont see that you show good sportsmanship. When you show good sportsmanship it counts and is remembered, because one's actions matter more than what they can do on the court. If you do great on the court, but really rude no one would be comfortable around you as a person. So its best to be a good person and a great athlete at the same time.

“True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse.”
-Pathros Patriarch of Antioch & All the East(1846-’94)

When one is acting on kindness and love, their actions are valued. But when one acts for something in return, it is not done so happily. The quote of Pathros states a lot, even for his time. As it is said to not value riches, as they will not always be with you. But your heart and soul will always follow you wherever you go. I really love this quote, it reminds me of a verse relating to this in the bible. You cannot be greedy, and you cannot give with anger or selfish intentions or else what you have done would be meaningless. “For God loves a CHEERFUL giver…”, this would be 2 Corinthians 9:7.  I truly can relate to this, as it’s always valued when you act on love and compassion. But instead seen wrong when wanting riches and gain from that action. You will always be valued from kindness, not by the opposite. I will always remember this quote as well, because it seems to give me understanding.

But I wouldn't lose respect to those who chose this career, it was what they happily chose. Some people are meant to do things others won't.

Feel Right

" You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible." - Ezra T. Benson

Ezra T. Benson's quote shows us that we can only do wrong but never feel right or "okay" with it. My thoughts on this quote are many, but I can only state a few. With this quote I feel as though it is near The Golden Rule, as to treat others as you would like to be treated. It may all come back to you with all that you have done wrong. Like if you have done something wrong towards something or someone else, you would eventually or at one point feel bad. There was no point to do something wrong, because in the end you just feel bad. No one should ever feel good of something they have done that was wrong, its not right. You learn from your own mistakes as well, once you know you have done something wrong you wont do it again. From that mistake, you learn and know you don't want to feel bad or ashamed more than once. It may also be just in our nature to make mistakes, but you don't always have to repeat them. Sometimes it helps to learn from those mistakes, but you never feel right after you've made them. So its best to never repeat them and to continue to try to do right.
Dentist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dentists diagnose and treat any problems or issues involving the patient’s teeth, gums or any area related to his/or her mouth. As they provide the patient with information involving oral care. Informing the patient of diet choices may also help and affect the patient's oral health.
In a dentist’s daily responsibilities and duties, they usually:
  • Fill in cavities if the patient is seen to have any
  • Place sealants or any whitening products on teeth
  • Perform x-rays of teeth, gums, and jaw in order to examine
  • Teach patients of flossing, diets, the use of fluoride, and other types of dental care
Salary: $158,310(median annual wage of 2015)
Education:
Most dental schools require courses such as biology and chemistry to be taken before being enrolled. As well as a bachelor’s degree to enter, with majoring in science with biology may increase the chances of being accepted. To practice any of the nine specialties in the dental practice, it will take additional training to practice that one specialty. This training is usually a 2-4 years in residency for that specialty. As all states require a license, it may vary depending on the state.
Demand for this profession:
This profession is expected to grow by an estimate of 18%, this is to occur from 2014-2024. As demand for dental care will increase for dental cosmetics would increase in popularity with health insurance gaining more access.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

No I would not like to be a dentist, or any other career in dentistry. As I would have no endurance or patients with their oral care. I feel that i should care for myself and my own health before I’m ready to care and treat others. It is just something that I see more logically, so it helps me reestablish my choice of any future careers.

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."

                                            -Abraham Lincoln

Whenever we make a mistake or do something that we know is wrong, we eventually feel bad or notice what we have done afterwards. Abraham Lincoln's quote actually captures the emotion of any normal person and how they would feel about how they would act or the outcomes. It shows that Abraham Lincoln most likely saw through his mistakes and felt like anyone else. To be proud after accomplishing something, to feel ashamed when you know you have done something wrong. Many people deny it not to look or feel embarrassed, but in reality that's how we all feel. No one is perfect, not even a president. And at least one president being Abraham Lincoln had admitted to how he felt towards his actions. I truly can make a lot of mistakes, and in the end I do really feel bad. But when I do something that is good, I'm really proud of myself. That's just how we all are, and in order to feel good most of the time, we have to try to do good. It won't help to just think you'll get away with something you've done and forget about it. In the end, you'll just feel bad for all that you have done and the wrong you've done to others. So, you just might as well do the best you can for YOU and the others surrounding you and your life. From doing this, you will actually feel good and have good outcomes!

It would seem as though it may be a career I would like to have in the future.

Obedience

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."

                                                                     -Boyd K. Packer

Everyone has freedom, but at some point you may lose it. Throughout our lives we learn and are taught to be obedient, and we always try to be. When an elder tells you to not do something, they say not to for a reason. Its for the best for you, and so you wouldn't have a problem in the future. To be obedient is to help yourself and the others around you. I honestly try my hardest to be obedient, but there are times I make mistakes. But it's ok, everyone makes mistakes. Just try to be as obedient as you can.

911 Memorials

Date:September 11, 2001
19 militants who were involved with the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda had hijacked four airline planes. With these four airlines, each member who had hijacked took and carried out suicide attacks. These attacks were targeted towards the United States. Two planes flew into the World Trade Center in New York. While the third crashed into the Pentagon, and the other crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed during this attack, even including more than 400 firefighters and police officers. This day soon became a loss and tragedy for many. As this date is to be remembered as a memorial of those who lost their lives on 9/11.

When this whole event occurred I was only a few months old. So I cannot recall any first memories of this tragedy. But I am sorry for the loss that many families and New York had faced this day. I know to those that my sorry may bring more thoughts and memories. To those police officers and firefighters, they served our country! All I can do is think of now, but even now a lot has changed. As the date,9/11 was to be a day of memorials of those who lost their lives or even loved ones to this tragedy.

Obedience

" Obedience is the great test of life."
                                        - Thomas S. Monson

From this quote, can you really tell where you stand in life? As this quote allowed me to think through some choices I have made. But obedience is seen as a way of having or obtaining a happy and successful life. One of the Ten Commandments is for us (children) to obey our fathers and mothers. This will give our parents more life and allow us to live a more successful one. This is because obedience is something that everyone at one point in their lives must try to be. Being obedient also helps avoid the mistakes and regrets you may one day, so it's best to obey.
